PAMELA RIBON was so anxious about her idea, she had to pause to ask herself: If I write this, will it get me fired?
As a storyteller, Ribon knows her way around a modern Disney princess, having worked for about two years on the hit “Moana.” And she says her gift for crafting the dialogue of strong, funny female characters had helped her become a writer on Disney’s “Ralph Breaks the Internet” (opening Wednesday), the sequel to Rich Moore’s Oscar-nominated 2012 smash “Wreck-It Ralph.
The Olney Theatre Center is now serving a nostalgic, wisecracking dramedy of Catholic family dysfunction, circa 1959. It's called "Over the Tavern," and it's log-cabin-thick with drippy sentimentality.
It starts with a knuckle-cracking nun (sternly played by Carol Schultz) who can't drum religious respect into 12-year-old Rudy Pazinski (the capably witty Noah Chiet). But scenes in school and church, and eventually in a hospital, are placed on the far edges of James Wolk's set, the bulk of which is a full-blown apartment — four bedrooms, one bath, plus a grubby kitchen and a cramped den — above the tavern owned by Rudy's cranky father.

Explore More Ashley Graham is ditching hubby Justin Hervin on Valentine’s Day to walk Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s red carpet — but don’t worry, they’re keeping the spark alive.
“We like to walk around the house naked together. It keeps things fresh,” she tells The Post at the launch of Marina Rinaldi Denim, Graham’s new plus-size jean collaboration.
Graham, a longtime advocate for body diversity in fashion, wants women to feel just as confident clothed in her pieces for the Italian brand.

International Women’s Day is here again, and with it the opportunity to highlight women’s contributions to history, society and politics — and, of course, to sell stuff.
But how did the day get started? Some point to Russian communist roots; others claim an American origin story. The truth is that it’s neither and both. International Women’s Day began with a Russian-born Jewish woman in New York City, before traveling to the Soviet Union and back again.
